Top 5 TV Shows of 2015

Postby AwesomeLTB » Thu Dec 31, 2015 1:44 am

Post a list of your favs and let's discuss what we're watching!

5) Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)
This show fills the hole that was left when the Colbert Report ended last year. Part of me wishes he would have taken over the Daily Show, but I've also really enjoyed the job that Trevor Noah has done there, so I'm glad they both have places on TV.

4) Master of None (Netflix)
I'm a big Aziz Ansari fan, from his standup to his run on Scrubs and all the years on Parks and Recreation. I sat down to just watch the pilot one night and wound up watching the first half of the season and finished it the night after.

3) Game of Thrones (HBO)
What can you say about Game of Thrones? It has sex, violence and dragons, everything you need in a great TV show. Also Hodor.

2) The Leftovers (HBO)
Leftovers is dark and bleak and that's what I love about it. I'm a sucker for pain in my shows and characters that are extremely flawed. People who gave up on the show in season 1 because it was too depressing are really missing out.

1) You're The Worst (FXX)
This show really dug it's claws into me this year. I can't remember the last time I thought about a show so much when I wasn't watching it. Aya Cash is my 2015 TV MVP and I can't wait for season 3.

So what did the rest of you like on TV this year?

I have only even heard of two of these. Game of Thones (obviously) and Last Week Tonight.

I am not really into drama shows so my top 5 are all comedies.

5. Bojack Horseman
This is probably the closest to drama on my list. I do really enjoy the dark tone of the show. The first few episodes of the series were weak but it really it's stride this season.
4. Silicon Valley
I'm a huge Mike Judge fan from Office Space to King of the Hill and Idiocracy. I wish the seasons were more than eight episodes though.
3. Nathan For You
I love Nathan For You for so many different reasons. I love his absurd out of left field business ideas and how he is able to find the one thing to poke people's buttons. It is definitely not a show that everybody will enjoy due to how awkward and cringey it can be. Here is a clip from last year, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kv1lSH4hK-w
2. Bob's Burgers
This show is like comfort food to me, I'm always willing to watch an episode. I really like all of the characters in the show. I have been a fan of Loren Bouchard for Home Movies and probably watch this show the most.
1. Rick and Morty
This show is incredible. It is so absurd and out there with all the different planets and characters but at the same time the problems that the characters go through are relatable. It is very funny, dark and touching.

I'm a huge Burr fan but was a little disappointed by it.

Fargo is fantastic, probably my favorite show going right now.

Otherwise not much to add. Love Silicon Valley, The Leftovers, and Thrones too. Man Seeking Woman is pretty funny as well.

Not sure if it is new shows or just my top 5 shows from the last year, so I am going latter.

The Americans
The Blacklist
Madam Secretary
The Nightly Show
Suits

Others worth mentioning:
Limitless (I thought this show sucked after the first episode, but forgot to stop recording it and so I watched the next and I really like it, I think it is really funny, in a way similar to Psych)
Quantico (first 5ish episodes were GREAT, but it has gone off the rails. holding out hope for it to turn around)
Blindspot (the male lead is a TERRIBLE actor, and is a major drag on the show)

I do not have HBO but do love Last Week Tonight when I am able to catch it.
